So why is the Salzkammergut perfect for walking?
Why The Salzkammergut Is Perfect For A Walking Holiday
With the alpine lakes but clear blue water and mountains all around you, there is definitely more than one picture perfect moment in the area. Following the route you will be able to take in some of this amazing scenery
The Places To See
With many places along the way where you can see and enjoy the amazing views, you can also enjoy exploring the Salzkammergut area and learning more about its history. The picturesque town of Hallstatt sits on the waters edge, where you can explore the alleyways or sit and enjoy some lunch with a view. Bad Ischl is known as the gateway to the Alpine Lakes. Here you can visit the Emperor’s Villa which is the Emperors Summer residence. As some of our tours have shorter daily distances you can stop along the way to look around places which will break up your daily walks just nicely.

Our Salzburg lakes walking holiday is great for beginners, with the longest day being 12 miles. You are sure to enjoy the easy walking the tour has to offer. We also have our Sound of Music tour which is a slightly more demanding walking holiday which takes in the higher alpine paths. Our Austria to Bavaria walking holiday also starts in the Salzkammergut area where you can explore Austria and Bavaria in one holiday!
