This walking holiday in Liguria ( just north of Tuscany) is called the Cinque Terre, or the ‘five villages’, have given their name to this part of the Ligurian Coast, better known as the ‘flower-Riviera’. These five picturesque villages, difficult to reach by car, are connected by a railroad-track and by one of the most beautiful coastal footpaths of Europe. Walking along this footpath you’ll continuously have spectacular views on the sea and the terraced hills where vineyards, olives and lemons grow as well as a variety of wild flowers and sweet smelling bushes. Not only is the coastal area beautiful, more inland the mountains offer a varied landscape with vegetation and old chestnut forests.

The landscape where this walking tour takes place, belongs to one of the most dramatic coastlines of the Mediterranean. White cliffs rising 800 metres high out of the blue, crystal clear waters of the Golfo di Orosei. The thousands of mysterious Nuraghe villages and towers, scattered over this island, tell us of ancient times and ancient cultures that once ruled Sardinia. Starting from the capital city of Cagliari or Algherro you first travel into the heart of the Supramonte, a rugged and rough mountain area to the east, where still many secrets are concealed. Narrow footpaths lead you to the Su Gologone, a well that constantly pours out great amounts of crystal clear water. 
You will walk through the narrow and spectacular gorge called Gola di Gorropu, high up to Monte Tiscali, where you will find the ancient hidden city of the Nuraghe people. The final stretch is down to the sea where a pleasant and relaxing stay awaits you at Cala Gonone and the beautiful beach of Cala Luna.
