Welcome to Hooked on Walking holidays and our walking holidays in Greece. This particular hiking vacation is a self guided walking tour taking you to Naxos and Santorini. You can discover Athens on foot and explore two of the most beautiful islands of the Cyclades in one trip! The Cyclades is a Greek island group in the Aegean Sea, South-East of mainland Greece.
Explore the historical centre of Athens with its Ancient Acropolis and the most famous New Acropolis Museum. Set sail to the island of Naxos and climb the highest mountain of the area: Zas. From its summit you enjoy breathtaking views of olive orchards around you that are in sharp contrast with the deep blue Aegean Sea. Naxos is an island of contrasts: on the one hand the lively town and beaches near Naxos town offer excitement and entertainment where on the other hand you encounter the rural countryside where life is still very traditional.
Santorini is the most photogenic place of Greece. The steep cliffs with layers in all colours are the result of an explosion of the Thira volcano thousands of years ago. In de flooded “caldera” of Santorini there is still volcanic activity, as you can see during your visit to the Kammeni Islands. White washed villages on the cliffs, interesting ancient sites and excellent wines guarantee a perfect stay. And what better way to discover this unique landscape than on foot?
