The Sound of Music Country A 7 and 9 night independent walking holiday at an intermediate level around the wonderful Austrian Lake District. We have graded this walk as level 2-3
This region is known more for where that great film ‘The Sound of Music’ was filmed. Steep rocks and cliffs next to the lush green mountains you find in the Salzkammergut, as well as lovely hidden mountain lakes, a blue and green in colour. The paths are quiet, but lively with nature on all sides. This fabulous landscape, again and again, will make you stand still and enjoy the beauty, in this way nature at its best is experienced. One special part of the Salzkammergut certainly is the Ausseer land on the other side of the pass of Plöcken. Here, where the legendary Archduke Johann met and fell in love with his Christl (the postmasters’ daughter), an Austrian legend, you will stay an extra night .

On the Wings of the Eagle A 7 night independent walking holiday level 3
The Eagles way is a beautiful usually high alpine walk which crosses the whole of the Austrian Tyrol region from west to east with its centre at Innsbruck. If you imagine the eagles body being Innsbruck then the walks spread out from here in the shape of an eagles wings. This is a walk for experienced hikers. The scenery you will experience is truly breathtaking and the flora and fauna in the early season of June and early July are wonderful. You will truly be walking on the wings of the eagle.

The Salzburg Lakes A 7 night independent or guided walking holiday around Austria’s Lake District. We have graded this walking tour as level 1.
The region around Salzburg, with its many lakes and mountain scenery, was made famous by the film ‘Sound of Music’. This region known as the  Salzkammergut is considered one of the most beautiful treasures on earth. The uniqueness of this area has been recognised by UNESCO which has declared the region around Hallstatt as a nature and world heritage site. We will show you some of the beauties on this hiking tour that can be reached only on foot.

This particular hiking vacation is located in Igls a small alpine village a few miles outside of Innsbruck. Based at a wonderful 4 star luxury hotel in this wonderful village setting you can start your walks each day either around the relaxing lower altitudes of green pastures or you can head up the cable car to 2000m where you can start many alpine walks. At the foot of the Magic Mountains around 40 miles south west of Vienna there are many summer holiday villages from the times of the Hapsburg Monarchy. Time had seemed to have forgotten this region. These are the mountains of Viennese climbers, where many a famous Austrian mountaineer started his career climbing to an elevation of more than 2.000m. You will walk on quiet country roads, forest trails and walking trails. The 'pre-alps' region around Salzburg is a lovely landscape of gentle hills, little farmhouses and very small villages, and lakes. Here in Wachau the Danube is even more beautiful then elsewhere. A friendly climate and steep slopes form ideal conditions for vineyards and orchards. Some of the best wines of Austria are grown in Wachau and of course not to forget the local apricots. This is a varied hiking tour passed steep rocks, over soft hills and through scenting vineyards which are simply is blissful. A special feature of this countryside is the many small villages where everything centres on good food and wine. This tour is ideal in all seasohns as in spring time the blooming of flowers , in summer time the harvest of the fruits and in autumn the grape harvest.
