The Sound of Music Country A 7 and 9 night independent walking holiday at an intermediate level around the wonderful Austrian Lake District. We have graded this walk as level 2-3
This region is known more for where that great film ‘The Sound of Music’ was filmed. Steep rocks and cliffs next to the lush green mountains you find in the Salzkammergut, as well as lovely hidden mountain lakes, a blue and green in colour. The paths are quiet, but lively with nature on all sides. This fabulous landscape, again and again, will make you stand still and enjoy the beauty, in this way nature at its best is experienced. One special part of the Salzkammergut certainly is the Ausseer land on the other side of the pass of Plöcken. Here, where the legendary Archduke Johann met and fell in love with his Christl (the postmasters’ daughter), an Austrian legend, you will stay an extra night .
On the Wings of the Eagle A 7 night independent walking holiday level 3
The Eagles way is a beautiful usually high alpine walk which crosses the whole of the Austrian Tyrol region from west to east with its centre at Innsbruck. If you i magine the eagles body being Innsbruck then the walks spread out from here in the shape of an eagles wings. This is a walk for experienced hikers. The scenery you will experience is truly breathtaking and the flora and fauna in the early season of June and early July are wonderful. You will truly be walking on the wings of the eagle.
